This is 2020 my dear friend and everyone is actively using social media to share their thoughts, ideas, photos etc. The people on these platforms like instagram, snapchat, facebook etc. know you through your shared content, photos and your bio, these people may be strangers or even your friends or family members. It has been found that your photos create a great impact on people about your personality.Photos also make your social profile look interesting and people like to explore more about you.
Here we will be talking about some ways by which you can make your photos look amazing. Before starting i would like to tell you some of the misconceptions that are created by mobile companies to increase the marketing of their product.
- First of them is Megapixel and ya I know most of the people use this criteria to compare mobile cameras.Dude believe me megapixel has nothing to do with camera quality ,it just represents the number of pixels present in your image.A pixel is the smallest unit of a image and each pixel carries colour information .In other words, each pixel has RGB(red, green and blue) colour component changing the brightness and contrast of which different shades of colour are obtained.Higher the number of pixels clearer the image and hence greater the size of the image.
- Second misconception that has taken everyone's attention is the concept of dual camera, triple camera and quad camera and so on๐ .If you really think that your phone could click the photos with same depth effect as DSLRs ,then guys why do people buy such big DSLR cameras .In some flagship level phones it works and that too in good light condition and i am not saying that it never works in any smartphone it might work well in some phones but all I am saying is that it just messes up your photo because it cannot create the same depth effect as DSLRs. DSLR lens have a much wider aperture due to which more light can enter into the lens and hence a shallow depth of field is obtained, which by the way is not possible in small camera lenses.
Snapseed is a photo editor developed by google and this app is very handy for giving your photos a quick editing touch .This app has very good editing features and is easy to use. Most of the time I use this app in my phone and it always does wonder to the photos. Most amazing feature of this app is that it does not destroy the pixel quality of your image.
2.)STOP OVERSATURATING YOUR PHOTOS :
Really you have to stop oversaturating your photos I have seen a lot of people who oversaturate their photos and I really don't know how does it make their photos look better instead it makes them look much worse.Excessive saturation causes your photo to look unnatural and it causes the individual colour to get off the histogram scale. There is one key point you should always remember and it says never saturate the photos clicked in night(most of the times) and the daylight photos should be saturated to the right level. So try not to oversaturate them instead you can try the colour slider or vibrant scale.
3.)RULE OF THIRDS :
Have you ever wondered why there is a grid feature in your camera that's because it helps to balance the focal points in your photo.Whenever you click a picture there is a subject that needs to be focused and draw the viewer's point of interest.Lets look at this picture shown if the tree was in middle it might not look that good, therefore its very important to know your picture's point of interests. Its very simple to use this rule:Just place your subject at the points where the lines are intersecting. You should try to use this method with asymmetric backgrounds and not in case of symmetric backgrounds. You can refer to various Youtube videos and see how it works.

4.)BLACK AND WHITE FILTERS:
By black and white I mean to say all shades of black and white and even vintage filters which are not even black and white.Vintage filters always give a classy look to your photos. The black and white filter works best in low light conditions with light falling on the subject.Believe me these filters are evergreen you can use them most of the times obviously not in holi or nature photos.Using filters is not a bad thing as long as you know how to correctly use them.
5.)EXPERIMENT WITH YOUR PHOTOGRAPHS:
Experiment with your photos ,play with the settings.Try out which filter suits your pic the best possible way,see if the highlights needs to be raised or reduced(try to reduce them in most cases as it highlights the underexposed regions),similarly see other features like shadow, brilliance, exposure etc. So its a completely hit and trial procedure. One more thing I want to tell is that once you have decided to post a specific picture stop wondering how you are looking and during editing don't just see how you look you have to make sure that overall picture looks good.
6.)TAKE HELP FROM PINTEREST:
Pinterest is a storehouse of millions of photos where one can always find incredible editing ideas. Even if you don't know how to pose you can see photos of models posing in different ways. There is nothing much to say only that you can always refer to pinterest when you are out of ideas.
MOST COMMON MISTAKES
There are few things that most of us do wrong and there are things that one needs to keep in mind while editing or clicking pictures.Try to click photos in zoom out than zoom in ,this way you can crop the photo in your desired way.Although both methods changes the overall quality of your picture but unlike zooming ,cropping does not effect the perspective of your image. Also never apply the editing effects to your original picture this way you are always left with a backup in case something goes wrong.Always keep your photos simple and classy, do not apply too much editing effects until and unless you are editing them for professional purpose. What I mean to say is do not put everything in one picture, too much text, vector frames and filters make your picture look unrealistic and also your picture looks dull due to too many hues.Always try out new looks because if you are using same style of editing again and again then it might makes your profile look boring.By applying filters and editing options I am not talking about the beauty effect(or AI based face filters) please don't use it and also don't misinterpret it with Snapchat ,guys snapchat is a different thing and people use it for fun or any other activity. One last thing you are doing wrong is taking motion pictures, you should always take motion pictures in manual(pro) camera mode- adjust the ISO and shutter speed to maximum this would prevent object in motion to become blur.Note that this method works best in good daylight conditions.
So that's all you need to do for giving your photos a better look.If you want more tools and want to edit your photos in a professional manner then you could use picsart or lightroom app in your mobile phones and Adobe photoshop in your PCs."Do you agree with these tips that I have mentioned above?Share your thoughts in the comments below!".I am leaving some links below which might help you:
